Cut and paste in Finder works a little differently. Unlike other cut and paste operations, you don’t have to cut the file. Instead all you need to do is copy the file: select the file and press Command-C. Navigate to your desired location and press Command-Option-V. Remember, if you press Command-V instead, you will create a copy of the file instead of moving it. This will move the file to the new location.
