Want to get Faster? Sprint Training Adaptation - what happens to our body when we train?
But what happens when we train? How does our body adapt to sprint training?
Adaptation, simply put, is the way in which our body react to training in order to perform better the next time it is asked to do the same or a similar activity.
In this video we look at the various elements involved in the process. The adaptations we are looking at involve the ability to improve the contraction rate and size of muscles through faster contractions because we can produce ATP faster and overall power because of bigger muscles.
Most of the training is anaerobic, although, with repeated repetitions in training there is also an aerobic element as well.
Scientifically we groups these adaptations into three categories: metabolic adaptation (ability to produce ATP quickly), Muscular adapation (increasing muscular strength) and Neuromuscular adaptation (effectively improving communication between your brain and the rest of your body).
Understanding all of this will allow you to understand how training makes you sprint faster, which is what we all want to get from sprint training!
