Starting the Big Truck in Cold Weather
Skip to 1:16 if you're only here for the big diesel engine start up sounds. Otherwise, let's try starting the big truck in cold weather! My truck is a 2007 International 4300 with a DT466 engine. It hates cold starts when the weather gets down to around 40 degrees and below, so I have to make sure to plug it in before I'm ready to start it. If I don't have it plugged in, I have to cycle the Wait to Start light a couple times before cranking it. If not, it has a real hard time starting.
I try to turn it over and let it warm up to operating temp at least once every couple of weeks while it continues to sit until I can start running it on the road. So far, so good, almost 1.5 years after buying it. Sheesh. It's going to be real nice to start operating eventually.
