The plague outbreak is a bacterial epidemic that broke out in the same geography as the Corona virus and then showed its effect in all known civilizations of the period. The homeland of the bacteria Yersinia Pestis, which causes plague disease, is the Mongolian steppes. This bacterium reproduces in rodents and passes through fleas and is highly contagious.
Although it is known in medieval times, plague disease appeared in China and India in the 10th and 9th centuries BC. The plague that followed nomadic people and then trade routes first reached Mesopotamia and then to the Greek city states in 430 BC.
There are three forms of the plague depending on the way of transmission. The first of these is Bubonic Plague. Bubonic Plague is the most common form of plague, and in the Middle Ages it became famous as Black Death. This type of plague makes a painful swelling in the lymph nodes, and the patient dies shortly after the symptoms appear. The second type of plague is the plague of sepsis. In this plague type, blacks are seen in the foot and nose due to tissue death. The third type of plague is the Pneumonic Plague, also called Lung Plague. It is a type of plague that results in death within a few days.
The plague epidemic has shaken society, states and religious authorities deeply. Product prices had bottomed since exports decreased in the cities. For this reason, the bottom section of the society has accessed meat, butter and other essential substances that they did not taste. Cow and wool prices are 50% cheaper.
The Flagellant movement has been the most benefited from the authority gap caused by the plague. Members of the Flagellant movement wandered from town to town and repeated the crucifixion ritual of Jesus. This movement, which was tolerated by the church and official authorities, started to slip from its line and stretch the society more. Members of the movement began to spread that the Jews were the only culprit in the spread of the plague. It was understood that the members of the Flagellant movement, who wandered around town over time, caused the plague to spread faster, and was banned by the papacy and most of the members of the movement were executed. The interesting thing is that there are people who claim that the Jews are not cancer, but cancer cases are not seen in Israel, despite the fact that the world health organization denies it with all its data.
