In the hot, tropical swamps of South America live giant anacondas. These creepy crawlers thrive in the heat and humidity. But anacondas don’t always have the classiest dining etiquette. These dangerous reptiles prefer to swallow their prey whole. If you crossed an anaconda’s path on its home turf, would it try to swallow you?
First, they’ll try to squeeze you to death. Who doesn’t love a tight hug with 62,000 kilopascals (9,000 psi) of pressure?
After many broken bones from that anaconda squeeze, you’d be covered in snake saliva and gulped down by these reptilian predators. How much would it hurt? And if you survived, what would the inside of an anaconda’s body look like? How many days would it take for an anaconda to digest you?
