API first is very consumer-focused; it's focused on the things that are going to improve processes within your organization, solve pains that people are having, and give you gains in terms of new things that you or your partners couldn't do before.
We do this by thinking about those propositions and the APIs, the working set of APIs that can deliver those outcomes.
So being able to have APIs in a catalog is really important, to be able to look at what you've got, start with the APIs, inform really good design from that, and then you go into the build part of the lifecycle where you can build something that you're guaranteed is something that has value that business people really, really need in order to move the needle in your business.
