Inspired by Oklahoma’s state bird, the scissor-tailed flycatcher, Skydance Bridge soars over Interstate 40 in Oklahoma City. The concept was developed into the competition-winning design by Hans Butzer, FAIA, dean of the Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma, OU professor emeritus and structural engineer Chris Ramseyer, Ph.D., P.E., FACI, with Torrey Butzer, Stan Carroll, Jeremy Gardner, Ken Fitzsimmons, David Wanzer and Laurent Massenat. Now, just over a decade after its opening in April 2012, Skydance Bridge is one of four iconic U.S. bridges featured in a limited series of postage stamps curated for the United States Postal Service.
