Thermal management and thermal stability can be two separate topics, but they are typically related for RF circuits using PCB technology. This video begins with an introduction to heat flow concepts and how they relate to thermal management of PCB’s. Critical material properties and circuit properties for PCB thermal management are considered. Thermal stability is explained by considering the effects of TCDk and TCIL at different operating temperatures, along with moisture absorption and long-term aging effects.
