UniFi Switch Lite 8 In-Place Upgrade (Referencing Ubiquiti PoE Matrix)
UniFi Switch Lite 8 In-Place Upgrade in an existing network is pretty easy to do as long as you do things in an orderly fashion. Watch this video to see my process and see how you can use Ubiquiti's PoE martix to understand what access points are compatible with what switch.
My UniFi Switch Lite 8 In-Place Upgrade process is basically taking the new switch, bring it online with power and network connectivity, adopt it, then match the ports and port profiles from the old switch and copy them to the new switch. (manually or using the copy configuration feature).
The UniFi Switch Lite 8 is providing PoE+ power so it can provide power to access points like the U6 Pro or the U6-LR. If you want to know or make sure the switch or own will be able to power an access point you might be purchasing, use the Ubiquiti PoE matrix.
The UniFi Switch Lite 8 In-Place Upgrade was generally pretty easy and smooth and since i followed a very planned out process, i encountered no connectivity issues and no clients ended up in vlans they were not supposed to be in.
Before starting the UniFi Switch Lite 8 In-Place Upgrade process i have used the matrix to make sure the switch i am about to buy will be able to power the access point i wanted to purchase. I hope you will enjoy this video. Thanks for watching.
