So what does a creative director do? Let me share my experience. I have been a creative director for more than 10 years.
It really depends on the creative work, but overall it is somebody who overlooks the entire creative process.
They take the heavy lifting, generate ideas and review other ideas to make sure everything is aligned with project goals and highest quality.
They follow the trends and predict which ones are here to stay and which ones will have a quick downfall.
They are the ones that come up with new trends in the industry.
They are also the key client communication person. It is so important that clients' needs are met and everything is delivered to the highest standard.
The Creative Director always questions everything. Is this design user experience the best it can be? Is this project showcase the bigger vision of the client, does the client have a clear understanding of all puzzle elements?
Will the team members have a clear understanding of the execution?
Can there be any challenges or possible dangers in the process?
They are also the ones that make sure the project reaches its goal. Is this project to build brand awareness, generate sales or grab attention or manage reputation. What is the main goal?
The main responsibility is to manage the creative team.
It is also very important to motivate the team, spark the fire in clients and overall make sure everyone is in the right place.
