We are pleased to share the second in a series of very special episodes of “Hexa Tales”, where we bring you the stories of patients whose lives have been impacted by us, one way or another. This story is of one of our own HexaHealth family members – Kashif Rashid, who works in our Patient Care Coordinators team.
After losing his parents at a young age, Kashif found unconditional love with his sister’s family. His brother-in-law Firoz Imam took on the role of a father, helping & guiding Kashif in his life’s journey. Little did anyone suspect that this beautiful bonding would one day face a devastating health challenge. The family found out that Firoz was suffering from thyroid cancer. Earlier, it was mistakenly identified as merely a nodule in the throat. It was because of the expertise of HexaHealth’s team of experienced & well-qualified doctors that the real issue was identified.
The nodule was removed surgically and was found to be cancerous. Firoz had to undergo another surgery which also took a complicated turn as he had to be put on a ventilator immediately post the procedure. This left Kashif - flooded with memories of both his parents being on ventilators and never returning to him - extremely worried. But Firoz did regain consciousness the day next day, although he was unable to speak. After voice therapy, he was discharged in four days. They were told that with time, Firoz would get better. Today, he has fully recovered and is leading a happy life.
