LAPAROSCOPIC REPAIR OF INGUINAL HERNIA WITH LATERAL SUTURE CLOSURE IN A 12 YEAR OLD BOY
The standard repair of inguinal hernia in children is by IDES technique, (Incision, Dissection, Excision and Suture technique). However, there are some patients where internal ring looks very wide and surgeon is uncomfortable in doing only standard technique. In these subgroup of patietns we recommend lateral suture closure of the internal ring using non absorbable suture. Some surgeons repair it with mesh. Some don't strengthen posterior wall believing that the muscles of children are strong and we don't need to repair it.
