There are multiple affordable options for Commodore disk drive replacements, such as sd2iec and pi1541. The pi2iec project will provide disk drive functionality and more, including printers, HDMI output, networking, USB devices, and more! What's more, as a serial IEC based device, it should work with most of the Commodore 8-bit computers, including the VIC-20, the Commodore 64, the Commodore 16, the Commodore Plus/4, and the Commodore 128. Even later computers, such as the MEGA65 and the Commander X16 should work with pi2iec!
