Purity, participant of UNHCR's Refugee Speakers Programme 2024, shares her touching story at UNHCR's World Refugee Day event Pass the Mic.

Purity, a black trans woman and trans activist, performed a poem and dance about her experience of facing and fleeing homophobic and transphobic violence in Uganda before eventually being resettled to Sweden through UNHCR. To healing Rwandan afrobeats, Purity danced to celebrate her power and resilience and the battles that she has fought and won.

Share her story to show solidarity with transgender refugees worldwide. For more videos from the Refugee Speakers Programme, visit our Refugee Speakers Programme - YouTube here:    • Refugee Speakers Programme
