The Dall sheep, a species native to North America, are notable for their distinctive appearance and rugged mountainous habitat. These wild sheep are primarily found in the high, rocky terrains of Alaska, Canada, and parts of the western United States. Distinguished by their impressive curved horns, both males (rams) and females (ewes) boast these formidable structures. The horns are an essential part of their social hierarchy and are used in dramatic clashes during the mating season to establish dominance and court potential mates. Dall sheep are well adapted to their challenging environment, utilizing their exceptional climbing and jumping abilities to navigate steep slopes and evade predators. Their thick, white coats provide camouflage in the snowy landscapes, aiding in protection from predators like wolves and bears. As herbivores, they graze on alpine vegetation, showcasing the resilience and resourcefulness required to thrive in their high-altitude homes.
