Katyusha is a Soviet folk and military song written in 1938 by Matvey Blanter and Mikhail Isakovsky. Popularized among the Armed Forces and civilians alike during the Second World War, the song spread by the liberating Soviet Red Army across Europe to Germany, Yugoslavia, and various other countries, with its popularity further boosted by performances with altered lyrics by Greek and Italian Anti-Fascist Partisans. It spread across Asia with the Soviet intervention in Manchuria against the Japanese, and became popular, still retaining its popularity today, with the Chinese Armed Forces, and spreading from China to see similar popularity in Vietnam, Korea, Japan, and various other Asian countries.
