Numerous living organisms are able to create their own light. This process is called bioluminescence. Some of the organisms are able to produce their own light, whereas some live in symbiosis with bioluminescent microorganisms. A representative of these bioluminescent microbes is Aliivibrio fisheri.
In this film are demonstrated two possibilities how to cultivate luminescent bacteria on your own and in particular what one can do with them.
In the 1st option, we used sea fishes for getting and cultivation the luminescent bacteria culture - Aliivibrio fisheri.
In the 2nd option, we used „Leuchtlabor Box“ (www.leuchtlabor.de). This set contains everything required for cultivation of the Aliivibrio fisheri bacterial culture, including fish agar and the bacterial culture.
