The USS Independence leaves Bremerton
The USS Independence, which served the US Navy from 1959 to 1998, left Bremerton Saturday for the scrapyard in Brownsville, Texas. The vessel, mothballed here for almost two decades will be recycled -- but first it must make a journey around the tip of South America.
