This is how to goblet squat a Powerblock adjustable dumbbell.

Powerblock dumbbells can be used to perform goblet squats using the technique I'm demonstrating in the video. I love Powerblocks, especially the new EXP PRO model because of the durability, design changes, and the speed of weight change. In the video, I make progressive weight changes from 10lbs up to 90lbs, showing a few reps of goblet squats at every weight.

Yes, Powerblocks do not have the same shape as a traditional dumbbell, but to say "you can't do goblet squats with Powerblocks", is not true. You can do goblet squats by adjusting the hand position slightly.

With a traditional dumbbell, the palms of the hands face upward to support one of the weight end of the weight. It's a comfortable position to support weight while performing squats. It looks like you're holding a goblet, thus the name "goblet".

With Powerblocks, squeeze the hands toward each other HARDER, like you are trying to crush a can. The hand positioned on the open side of the dumbbell (where the handle is) will feel exactly the same as a traditional dumbbell. The hand on the opposite side has a little less accommodating surface and shape, but there is a small ledge for the palm to "catch" and hold onto.

Coop from Garage Gym Reviews is a good guy who provides a lot of valuable content on gym equipment, but his comments surrounding Powerblocks and their limitations are incorrect.

So, YES, you can go heavy with goblet squatting Powerblocks.
