Exum Instruments EVP of Business Development, Ellen Williams, describes a case study demonstrating the Massbox's ability to reliably quantify trace elements from lithium to uranium with high accuracy compared to known values. Exum's Massbox is the first instrument using Laser Ablation Laser Ionization Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry (LALI-TOF-MS). This technique offers rapid and comprehensive characterization of trace elements within diverse materials, streamlining the analytical process with unprecedented operational efficiency.

Accurately measuring trace elements within solid materials is essential for discerning their origins, tracing chemical processes, identifying contamination, and ensuring precise process control. Many industries require high-sensitivity measurements to ensure both product effectiveness and the health and safety of consumers. Despite the demand for high performance tools, achieving trace detection limits can be difficult and time consuming. The Massbox addresses the challenges of traditional spectroscopy techniques by eliminating the need for extensive sample preparation and accurately quantifying trace elements from lithium to uranium.
