Networking Foundations: Networking Basics in kannada
Notes:
Introduction to Networks
When we talk about a network, we're talking about a group of devices that are connected to each other. For example, at work, you might have a laptop that connects to your company's email server. That connection happens through a network. We also have networks in our homes.
Home Network Example
i recently built a new house with my wife, and I took the chance to add lots of technology. We installed super-fast fiber internet, wired the house for speeds up to 10 gigabits per second, and set up seven wireless access points to cover the whole house. We also put in nine security cameras and some smart devices, like a doorbell camera, a smart oven, and smart TVs. Even our Amazon Alexa devices are connected to the network.
Types of Connections
there are two main ways to connect devices to a network: with wires or wirelessly. Wired connections use Ethernet cables, which have special connectors called RJ45. You might hear terms like CAT 5 or CAT 6 when people talk about these cables. Wireless connections, also known as Wi-Fi, use radio waves to connect devices without any cables.
Different Network Sizes
We can also talk about networks by their size. A Personal Area Network (PAN) is very small, like the connection between a wireless gaming controller and a gaming console. A Local Area Network (LAN) usually covers a single building, like your home network.
A Campus Area Network (CAN) connects nearby buildings, like at a university. A Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) connects different places across a city, allowing businesses with multiple offices to connect easily. A Wide Area Network (WAN) connects networks across large distances, like between cities or even countries.
Secure Networks with VPN
With WAN connections, especially those that use the internet, we need security. One way to keep data safe is to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN), which encrypts data. This means the data is protected, even if it's sent over a public network like the internet.
