Dawn Morse, director of Core Elements Training demonstrates Low and High Lizard pose, which is a fantastic stretch for increasing mobility at the hip joint and developing flexibility within the adductor and gluteal muscles.
Although the primary aim of this stretch is to develop gluteal and adductor flexibility within the front leg of this stretch, hip flexor flexibility may also be further developed in the back leg, whilst in the high lizard variation.

Increasing mobility at the hip can help to reduce muscular related hip pain, whilst increasing stride length.
Reducing muscular related hip tension can also help with generalised lower back pain, depending on its cause.

This stretch is an example of one of the techniques covered in Core Elements Online Clinical Yoga CPD course, which is available to therapists at Level 3 and above, who would like to offer yoga based stretches within their clinical work, or as a 1-2-1 clinical yoga session.
An ideal CPD course for Sports Massage therapists, Sports Therapist, Physiotherapists, Yoga teachers, Athletic Trainers etc.
