Tonight's Topic
Cities can be complicated to navigate. People use their GPS navigators, mice stick to the woods, and birds fly above it all…but what do bees do? We’ll look at how bees interact with roads, buildings, and other features as they move through the city, and what that could mean for conservation and pollination in urban parks and gardens.
Tonight's Guest
Dr. Elsa Youngsteadt is an assistant professor in the Department of Applied Ecology at NC State University. She and her team investigate the effects of urbanization and climate change on insects, including bees and ants. Elsa grew up in Missouri and spent a few years in Wisconsin before settling in North Carolina, where her favorite bee is the carpenter bee and her favorite ecosystem is the longleaf pine savanna.
