AV-8B Harrier Cold Start, Preflight, & Taxi of the Last Harrier Demo of All Time
Powered by a Rolls-Royce Pegasus engine, this was the last cold start & preflight of a public Harrier demonstration.
This video was taken at MCAS Cherry Point during their 2024 airshow. The "AV-8B Harrier Level III Demo" which took place after this cold start & preflight was dubbed as the last of all time. As Cherry Point makes the transition to the F-35, they do not expect to perform another Harrier demo during their next airshow.
According to Mike Colaner, this Harrier (BuNo 165389), "was the 305th AV-8B built and the 22nd remanufactured using parts from BuNo 162744. It was delivered to VMA-542 ‘Tigers’ on April 7, 1999, and served with the VMA-214 ‘Black Sheep’ and VMA-311 ‘Tomcats’ squadrons."
