Social media MADNESS is alive and well. Facebook shares exceeded 45,000. Reading the comments, it is clear that hundreds of thousands of people instantly believed this FAKE ad to be real. Often, it is difficult to verify the source. Yet, the fake ad included the correct website where the original Coke ad was displayed. I often receive similar notes and advice from caring friends who say, 'Send this to everyone you know, it was verified by Police Inspector Simon Smith'. As if that that's enough to make me believe the latest warnings. Had anyone tried to contact that policeman? No! Because he does not exist. In the good old days, it took years for an urban myth to spread. Now, thanks to LIKES and SHARES at the click of button, misinformation will gallop. I worry what will happen in times of war. The biggest Propaganda Machine is now assembled and ready.
