Kitesurfing Site Assesment
Welcome to a Tribe Tutorial and our How To Kitesurf series. In this video we are looking at the all important Site Assesment. Another way of looking at this is a risk assesment of the beach that you are planning to kitesurf on. Remeber the buzz word SHOE to remind yourself of the four key areas you want to review:
S- surface (What is the beach like? What is the sea state?)
H- hazards (What can I bump into, currents and rips?)
O- others (Who can I bump into?)
E- Environment (What are the conditions like?)
Certain areas can be researched and reviewed before hand but this is best done on the beach before your session. If its your first time Kitesurfing in a location, even better would be to reach out to a local kitesurfing school to walk you thorugh your fisrt site assesment to ensure that those issues that are not so obvious such as rocks under the water, rips and currents are pointed out to you.
