The original title of the song was You Don't Get Me. The song, with a very rock cut, became memorable for the melody made with two guitars; it is not clear who played the two guitar lines, and in fact the paternity of both was assumed to Harrison. The subject of the story is probably Cynthia Lennon, John's wife, who had given her husband a fake bird in a cage. Lennon considered it a disposable song.
