"Budjonny Reiterlied", "Song Of Budyonny's Horse Army", is an East German rendition of the 1936 Red Army song "Calvary Song" or "the Horse Army Song" about Red Army cavalry units led by general Semyon Budyonny during the Russian Civil War. Following Soviet liberation from Nazi Germany at the end of World War II and the establishment of the German Democratic Republic, many Soviet songs were translated and reused by the East German party and military such as "Katyusha", "Warszawianka", "Let's Go!", and "Moscow Nights".
