Hymens + Period Cups | Can a Virgin Wear a Menstrual Cup?
Can you use a tampon or a menstrual cup if you're a virgin? Yes! Expand for links and resources. How is this possible? The hymen is not a closed door that prevents a tampon or menstrual cup from being inserted into the vagina. Hymens come in many forms but for many, by the time they're ready to try a tampon or menstrual cup the hymen is mostly gone. This happens naturally through your life during your regular activities (bike riding, running, horse back riding, gymnastics, and even self exploration.) If that isn't the case and you try to use a tampon or cup with difficulty you can take a break and try again another month. For some, a visit to the gynecologist may be enlightening or you can use a mirror and take a look for yourself. The important thing to know is that you can attempt to use any of these products at your own speed. Menstrual cups can last up to ten years; if your first attempt or third attempts don't go well it will still be there whenever you're ready to give it another try. Cups are convenient products for people of all ages, teens especially, and once you get the hang of them you'll be glad you put in the time to learn.
