Meet Garret Larson, M.A., Ph.D., staff scientist and City of Hope’s unofficial official beekeeper! What started as a simple tree trimming in his front yard a few years ago turned into a passion for saving bees.
His love for beekeeping has inspired his research on B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common cancer in pediatric patients. Dr. Larson hopes that studying organisms like bees can pave the way for breakthroughs in cancer research — taking discoveries from bees to bench to bedside.
