We met up with Cora in Sheridan Wyoming. Cora Rose Wood discovered her love for singing, cowboy poetry, and songwriting at a very young age. Being raised on a ranch in southern Wyoming, Cora was no stranger to the way of life that served as cowboy poetry and songwriting fodder and was in love with both horses and music. Cora had the privilege of attending several cowboy gatherings in different states at a young age, including the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, NV, and the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Durango, CO. In 2008, she released her album “Cora’s Cowgirl Yodel”, and was the Western Music Association’s Youth Yodeler of the Year in 2008 and 2010. In 2012, her family relocated to a ranch in southern Montana, where she became more involved in sports and symphonic band, playing the flute and piccolo. Her experiences with high school marching and symphonic band helped shape her appreciation for music as a whole and inspired her to attend Sheridan College in Sheridan Wyoming. In Spring of 2022, she graduated with her Associates of Fine Arts (Music), her Music technology Certificate and her Arts Administration Certificate. The music that she writes today is heavily influenced by her rural ranch-life upbringing and draws on all of her experiences to tell stories that are raw and relatable, while paying tribute to the way of life that she so cherishes.
