It is situated on the main island (Male), which is very near to the Velana Airport island of Maldives. There are regular ferry service from Airport to the main island.

Somerset Inn has arranged for airport pick-up from counter no. 43 at airport. They arranged for the ferry and taxi to hotel. We were very impressed with the hospitality at the hotel. The buffet breakfast was complementary. They also helped us to arrange for 1 day trip to Maafushi island.

Staffs were very courteous, friendly, helpful and professional. We (I, my wife and my parents) loved our stay at Sommerset Inn. We will definitely stay here again !

It is cheaper to take flight from Trivandrum (Kerala, India). Other ways to cut the expenses are mentioned below:

Hotel in main island: It is cheaper to book hotel in main island. Ferries can be taken from one island to another.

Pre-book hotel: It is wiser to pre-book the hotel with pick-up facility.

Food and stuffs of daily needs: they can be purchased from the super-market store at the cheaper rate.

Transportation: public ferry can be used, instead of private boats.

Local food: In main island, a lot of budget hotel/eateries can be found, which sells food to local people at cheaper price.

Avoid including Friday in your holiday: It is public holiday in Maldives. Limited shops and mode of transportation available on that day.

Always carry USA dollars: It is widely accepted. Any other currency may result in much lower exchange rate than it should be.

My story: I have stayed in Somerset Inn. The hotel had pick-up facility from airport. It also arranged for taxi from main island ferry stop to hotel. Breakfast was complementary. A lot of shops and eateries were nearby. We could easily walk to public ferry stand or taxi can be hired also. We book 1 day tour from hotel for another island. Overall, we managed to spend our family holiday (4 persons) with comparatively smaller budget.
