New information about the investigation into the Rochester firefighter arrested for several child pornography charges has emerged. While the FBI was not at liberty to comment specifically about the Brett Marrapese case, a special agent shed light on the investigation of such alleged crimes.
In 2016 and 2021, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip regarding suspected child pornography being uploaded by an individual in Rochester. Court documents reveal that the police traced the IP addresses associated with the Rochester Fire Department.
"Sometimes it gets us to a house, which is great, then we can use that information to seize electronics and things of that nature," said FBI Special Agent Chris Fiorito.
Employees with access to the Rochester Fire Department's on-site internet service, including Marrapese, were interviewed by the New York State Police in both 2016 and 2021. On both occasions, Marrapese denied ever viewing child pornography.
