How Big is a Thermal?
So many people drilled into me that thermals are pretty small. I actually think that may be wrong a significant fraction of the time. I made a change to my mental model and how I think about entering thermals, and it has had a large impact on my speed. Are the gliding experts wrong? What is going on here?
