Who wants to live forever? Jeff Bezos certainly does. And so do all the other Silicon Valley billionaires who have diverted their dollars into start-ups and scientists, hoping to suss-out the secrets of everlasting life. And it’s not as far-fetched as you might think.
Once seen as an inevitable fact of life, old age is now considered to be a curable disease. Anti-aging research has come a long way in recent years, and there’s no shortage of candidates for the elixir of life: from drugs like rapamycin and metformin (which are already used in healthcare today) to stem cell therapy, cryogenic freezing and young blood transfusions, no stone has been left unturned. But could any of them actually work? Let’s find out.
