Anomalies
There is a difference between testing a hypothesis and observing an anomaly. Both may be part of the process of science, but only one actually moves forward the frontiers of knowledge. Without a viable, testable mechanism, unexplained phenomenon are just anomalies, no matter how interesting we find them.
I'm going to examine the Psi of the Gaps thinking behind parapsychology research, the kind of thinking this entails, and contrast it with the discovery of the material of heredity.
