The Dancing Plague
Song recorded, mixed, and mastered by Tyler Gary in Oakland, CA
Written by The Forgetmenauts
Lyrics by Walker Staples

Well a note rang out in the middle of the night
Woke everybody up in a country mile
The milk jugs soured and the wells ran dry
The Devil smiled that Southern smile
The black cats stood up and packed their bags
The crows flew off for to spread the news
The mirrors cracked and the roses died
The Devil strapped on his dancing shoes
As the sun came out so did the whole town
Wearing nothing at all, whatever they could find
Top hats, potato sacks, wedding gowns
They stood face to face in two long lines
Husbands faced husbands and wives faced wives
Everyone took a good look around
Someone asked when and the Devil replied,
"Any second now"
Take your partner by the hand
Or anywhere they like
To worship in the Devil's name
We dance through day and night
Take your partner by the hand
Or anywhere they like
To worship in the Devil's name
We dance until we die
