There is a clear connection between risk and return in stocks. For higher returns, you have to know where to look and the high-risk stocks that will get you there. That doesn’t mean you have to invest blindly though in the riskiest stocks. I’ll show you how to screen for high-risk, high-return stocks that won’t keep you up at night.

The risk-return tradeoff in stocks is unavoidable. For higher returns in the stock market, you have to be willing to accept more risk. That doesn’t mean you have to accept it blindly though. In this video, I’ll give you criteria you can use to narrow your list of high-risk stocks to filter out the riskiest and keep the ones with the perfect amount of risk and return. I’ll then reveal three high-return stocks to watch with higher return and lower risk.
The criteria I’m using is stocks over $50 million but under $2 billion market cap. This screens out the very smallest and riskiest companies but keeps us in that small-cap stocks range. I’m also looking for stocks with high sales growth and current assets above operating expenses. This gives them the financial flexibility to survive no matter what.

It’s important to understand your own level of risk tolerance as well. No matter how much return you want, if you’re someone that doesn’t take risk well then you’ll want to look for stocks with a lower risk profile. Taking on more risk than you’re comfortable with is going to be more trouble than it’s worth. You’ll freak out when the stock drops, panic-sell the shares and won’t be able to benefit from the rebound. In the end, you’ll end up getting a lower return than if you had just chosen a lower-risk stock in the first place.
