Short films and Feature films are totally different for a lot of reasons: One of the main things being the color grade. The color grade isn't just color correcting the shot to raise the whites and drop the blacks and pull out the contrast, but rather, color grading is what establishes the fact that your characters and setting are in a completely different world as opposed to ours.
Color grading in feature films will stick to precise color palettes and have this already planned out even in preproduction phases.

In summary, Color grading is HYUUUUGGGEEE.

That means, if you want your short films to stand out like it was a feature film, then REALLLLYYYY put your all into learning not just HOW to color but WHY to color grade.

And what I learned recently is that in order to truly accomplish that, you shouldn't just stop at color grading in Premiere Pro or just Davinci Resolve: There are tools that can help you up your color grading even further:
