Hello darlings!! Welcome to a beautiful video, full of romance, the spirit of Paris, and dedicated to one of my all-time favourite musicals: the stunning stage adaptation of “An American In Paris” inspired by the 1951 film of the same name (you may know it with Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron). This romantic story, directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon and with book by Gershwin, follows an American soldier called Jerry Mulligan who decides to stay in Paris after WWII, and finds friendship in composer Adam Hochberg and French aspiring performer Henri Baurel, as well as possible love in the sophisticated Milo Davenport and the beautiful Lise Dassin. This lookbook was inspired by three of Lise’s outfits, as she is a fascinating character to me; a young woman, only 19 years old, emerging from the perils of occupied France as a Jewish person, once in hiding and now stepping out for the first time as a young woman open to love and possibilities. She craves security and artistic expression, and is talented, kind, and supportive. If you’ve seen the musical, please let me know what your favourite song is! I can’t possibly pick one, but “I’ve Got Rhythm” is definitely up there, as well as “I’ve Got Beginner’s Luck” and “Liza”. Also let me know what your favourite outfit was from this video!!
