This video shows you how to go to Macau by bus from Hong Kong via the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge. You should first take the MTR Tung Chung Line to Sunny Bay, where you can change to the B5 bus to get to the Hong Kong border checkpoint, where it should take no longer than 5 minutes to clear Immigration.

You can then buy a ticket for the shuttle bus, known as the HZMBus, to cross the bridge. A single adult ticket costs HK$65 during the daytime and can be bought at a ticket machine or counter. You can pay by card, cash or electronic wallets like Octopus Cards, Alipay or WeChat pay. With your ticket in hand, you can exit the building through Door 2 and head out to board the next bus.

Both double decker buses and single decker coaches are used. It usually takes around 40 minutes to get to the Macau checkpoint from the Hong Kong checkpoint. Once the bus has arrived, you can get off and take a short walk to the Macau immigration building. Most travellers can enter Macau without a visa or with simply a visa on arrival. You usually will have to queue for around 10 minutes to clear Macau Immigration. However, Hong Kong Permanent Residents can register their identity cards so that they may use the automatic gates, saving quite a bit of time.

Once you have cleared immigration, it is time to head to town. The Macau checkpoint is served by the 101X and 102X buses. A taxi rank is provided to your right as you exit the Arrival Hall, but there are often long queues. You can also take some a free shuttle bus by going straight ahead when you exit the Arrival Hall. Those shuttle buses head to the Macau and Taipa Ferry Terminals, where you may change to other free shuttle buses to various casinos.

Taking the HK$18.70 MTR fare and HK$4.80 bus fare into account, I have spent only HK$88.50 to go from Central to Macau. If you would like to go to Macau by bus from Hong Kong, you should expect a journey time of at least 2 hours to get to the Macau checkpoint and have an allowance of at least 30 minutes to get to your final destination in Macau. While it may be faster to take the ferry, the main advantage of taking the bus is that it is cheaper and you can do it 24 hours a day. Happy travels!
