This is a video of me flying on a Thai Smile flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai for my holiday back in October 2022. For your information, Thai Smile is a regional airline of Thai Airways International.
I arrived at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport early in the afternoon and followed the signs to transfer to my next domestic flight. I quickly cleared Thai immigration at the transfer point and walked through a shopping area to a Royal Silk Lounge. Since I was travelling with a relative who is a Star Alliance Gold member (i.e. KrisFlyer Elite Gold), I was able to follow her into the lounge, where I enjoyed quite a bit of northern Thai food. I must have spent more time in the lounge than on the plane!
We took a shuttle bus to the plane after the usual security check. The plane is your typical narrow body aircraft, an Airbus A320-200. I sat down in a window seat and waited for the plane to fill up completely before it taxied to the runway and took off into the night.
A snack was served shortly after take off and came in a fancy paper take away bag, so you may take it away and eat it later if you wish. It was a sweet minced pork sandwich. The flight was only a little over an hour long, so it was not long before we landed at Chiang Mai, where I was able to bypass passport control and collect my baggage straight away.
I connected to the free Wifi in the Arrival Hall and booked a ride to my hotel using an app called Grab. The car arrived within 5 minutes and it took us around 25 minutes to reach our hotel, the DusitD2 Chiang Mai.
A night market called the Kalare Night Bazaar is right outside the hotel, so we went out for a quick look and found the Kalare Food and Shopping Center, which has a massive food court. Who could have thought my first meal in Chiang Mai would be at a night market? I had some papaya salad and barbecued pork and meatball skewers for a total of 130 Baht, before heading back to the hotel to freshen up and have a nice sleep.
