SECRET Driving Technique To MASTER Karting (Neutral Steer). Whether it's an F1 car or a go kart, the technique every driver is trying to master is called neutral steer (or zero steer). Depending on all sorts of variables, the fastest way around a track is to use as little steering as possible because steering input creates drag. So if the tires aren't too heat sensitive and the kart/car's balance is setup correctly, you can use the pedals to dance the vehicle around the corner. It's like a hybrid between drifting and the traditional view of racing, but it's something high skill drivers are doing all the time, and always asking their engineers to try and make possible through car setup. It's a hard thing to setup for (I've maybe had a car that handled like this less than 5 times in my racing career), so it's something drivers always chasing!
