This folder full of someone's childhood Nintendo magazines, game inserts, and fun club paperwork was recently traded in to my local record store along with a music collection. Knowing that I'm into this sort of thing, the guys who run the store let me know about it, and I bought it! I do already have some of this stuff, but to me what makes it special is the story that this folder tells. This was someone who likely got their Nintendo in early to mid 1988, signed up for the Nintendo Fun Club (getting the last issue of the newsletter before the transition to Nintendo Power), had a handful of games including SMB/Duck Hunt, Dr. Mario, T&C Surf Designs, Bases Loaded, and The Legend of Zelda, and who like me used graphing paper to map out dungeons.
Even though I already did readthroughs of both the final issue of Nintendo Fun Club News and Nintendo Power Issue #1, I end up flipping through both of them again because when is that not fun?
