Equity crowdfunding investing is the online offering of a private company’s securities to regular investors like you or me with as little as $100. There are several sites that allow startups to raise capital through equity crowdfunding. I analyzed all of the platforms and I show you my top 3 crowdfunding platforms.
In This video I cover:
What is crowdfunding?
What is equity crowdfunding?
How equity crowdfunding works?
Reg CF
Regulation crowdfunding
I compiled the Number of campaigns on each platform, the amount of money raised this year and in the history of the platform and many more factors so that you can make sure you are investing on the right platform. You will be surprised that out of these companies, just 3 of them account for 90% of capital raised in 2022, and I will show you which 3 platforms these are!
I ranked the top equity crowdfunding platforms based on these criteria:
Types of companies and deals
Quality and Quantity of deals on the platform
Early-stage (Reg CF) vs. Later-stage (Reg A+) startups
Investor fees
Due diligence and deal curation done by the platform
Types of securities offered (e.g. Common Stock vs. SAFEs)
Secondary Market options (for increased liquidity)
And Payment forms accepted (credit card vs. ACH vs. wire)
I also talk about the Pros of equity crowdfunding and the Cons of equity crowdfunding
The companies analyzed are:
WeFunder
StartEngine
Republic
SeedInvest (Circle)
MicroVentures
NetCapital
Equifund CFP
NextSeed
Mainvest
truCrowd
Buy the Block
Out of these companies, the top equity crowdfunding platforms are:
WeFunder, Startengine, and Republic.
This video includes a Wefunder review, Startengine Review, and Republic Review.
Key Takeaways:
WEFUNDER is great for people that can do their own due diligence and have invested in startups before because of the big selection of startups raising money with them. However, this can be a bit overwhelming for newcomers.
STARTENGINE is also great for people who already have startup investing experience, however, theyr selection is not as large as wefunder.
REPUBLIC is great for people who don’t want to do as much due diligence as the company already screens the companies they list on their platform. This can lead to higher quality companies but the downside is that republic doesn’t have as many deals.
