In the aftermath of the Horus Heresy, Khârn was found comatose among the ruins of the Emperor's Palace. He was recovered and taken aboard a World Eaters vessel called the Defiant. Now a former World Eaters legion captain, Dreagher, is attempting to prevent World Eaters who have turned on each other from killing Khârn, who has not stirred from his coma. What happened next was not what anyone expected.
