We all like competent people, right? And we all like to be liked. Ergo, the more competent, the more ‘perfect’ we are, the more others will like us, right? Wrong.
It turns out that we do not like people when they are ‘too perfect’. This phenomenon, called ‘The Pratfall Effect’ was first discovered by the great Eliott Aronson, in a study described here by Adam Ferrier.
