Montgomery Ward & Co. was a mail-order business and later a department store chain that operated between 1872 and 2001. There is a current online company that operates under the Montgomery Ward name but like Hostess and Kodak there is little else in common with the original company other than the name. I am going on 68 years old and recall Montgomery Wards being where most of my family’s furniture and other house hold items came from as a kid and even later as an adult with my last visit to a store in the chain being about 1999.
The following 60 photos were shot in 1929. The products in these displays are a very good sampling of what was offered to our great grand parents during their visits to the chain.
