With the first images of the James Webb Space Telescope around the corner, the iconic Hubble Space Telescope has made an important discovery. Three decades of data show that the universe is expanding faster than we predict, which means that something is seriously wrong with our cosmology models. Accurate determination of the Hubble constant has been one of the fundamental goals in cosmology for the past hundred years. Different methods have been used to find the value of the Hubble constant observational and theoretically. But each measurement has added more to the confusion than clearing things up.
The tenth episode of the Sunday Discoveries Series talks about the recent evaluation of the Hubble constant by the Hubble Space Telescope.
