The idea behind this is for guitarists/bassists to have a track to play their own instrument over and hear it clearly.

Also shines more light on Travis’ talent on its own as well.

I do run the drums and vocals through my own process, not much of the vocals are changed except for editing out any noise, but I do quite a bit of work on the drums.

For anyone curious:
I start by EQing out any left over noise from the original song/boost any frequencies that weren’t pulled well
Multi-band compression to bring out the lower drums without the symbols/sibilance hurting your ears
An all-purpose dynamics processor layered with another processor designed for drums for that extra pound
A small room reverb effect to make it sound more realistic/wider
Multi-band saturation with tube bands on the low end to bring out that rich kick/tom sound
Maximizer to avoid clipping
Multi-band imaging (“stereoizing”) over the entire thing to give more depth to it
And finally a last EQ, usually to remove left over mud
